With daylight savings now here, longer evenings stretching out, and the garden starting to bloom, it is natural to be excited about the prospect of warmer days ahead. It is a great time of the year to give your living spaces a reset, so here are a few easy ways to freshen up your home.
1. Bring the Outdoors In
Step into the garden and pick fresh flowers to place in a cute vase or jar on the kitchen window or bathroom vanity. Nothing fancy is needed. If you do not have flowers, even some wildflowers from the roadside or some flowers off the lemon tree will do the trick nicely and fill the house with the scent of spring.

2. In With the Light, Out With the Dark
Pack away the heavy winter layers. Swap out the chunky woollen blankets, dark cushions, and thick throws for brighter and lighter fabrics, cheerful patterns and florals. If you have timber floorboards, rolling up heavy winter rugs can instantly make a space feel larger. It is also the perfect time to change over to clean crisp summer sheets.
3. Air Everything Out
Spring is a great time to freshen up furnishings and give the rooms a proper air out. Take mattresses outside on a sunny day to breathe. Hang blankets, pillows, and duvet inners on the line for a day or two, and pop the throws and cushion covers in the wash. We are all used to keeping windows and doors tightly closed over winter, so open them up on a nice day and let the fresh air flow through.
4. Spring Clean
Do not overwhelm yourself by trying to deep-clean the whole house at once. Instead, pick just one spot, perhaps a messy corner, the entryway, or a single room that has been annoying you, and give it a clean top to bottom. Give those skirtings, architraves, and windows a good scrub, and most importantly clear out unnecessary clutter. The rule is simple: if you do not love it or use it, get rid of it. Put on a great playlist, restyle your favourite pieces, and soak in the instant satisfaction of a clean, organised room.
5. Add a Pop of Potted Colour
So much of the joy of spring is about what is happening out in nature. If you want to bring that energy closer to the house, plant up a few pots with seasonal flowers like primroses, pansies, or violas, and place them where you can see them every day. Consider planting herbs like basil, mint, chives, coriander, and parsley to add freshness to your summer meals. Just keep the mint in its own pot so it does not take over.
Start Small
Refreshing your home does not have to happen all at once. By tackling just one or two of these simple ideas, you can easily clear away the winter dust and create a bright, welcoming space for the warmer months ahead.
And if your spring reset has you thinking about something bigger, from a new kitchen through to a full home renovation, we are always happy to talk it through.
